Telekom Speedport LTE II – Huawei B593u-12

The Telekom Speedport LTE II is ideally suited for fast Internet access in residential areas without DSL and offers fast Internet access via the mobile network. The 4G Router “Speedport LTE 2 ” is also ideally suited for wireless surfing with multiple devices like PC, Tablet PC and smartphones in the home network. Compared to its predecessor Speedport LTE, Speedport LTE II now supports all German LTE LTE 800, LTE 1800, LTE 2600.

LTE antenna connector: On the Speedport LTE II, you can connect two external LTE antenna or an LTE dual antenna (MIMO) with two SMA antenna connections. Huawei E5186 LTE CAT6 Router Preview

In a few weeks the German Telekom and Vodafone launch LTE-Advanced Category 6 offered speeds up to 225 Mbit/s in the downlink with Vodafone, at Telekom even up to 300 Mbit/s. At MWC, Huawei released the mobile WLAN hotspot E5786 which is already a first LTE CAT6 shown terminal at CeBIT. It was followed with another model Huawei E5186 router now. The Huawei E5186 is the successor to Huawei B593 and was not only technically upgraded, but also the design and functions are now much of higher quality.

 

High Speed ​​by Carrier Aggregation
The heart of the Huawei E5186 LTE router is new modem chipset. This is manufactured by the subsidiary HiSilicon and supports LTE-Advanced to Category 6, so depending on the network configuration, up to 300 MBit/s in downlink is possible. To this end, Carrier aggregation is used, ie different frequency ranges are combined. However, the maximum speed is only achieved when the supported bandwidth of 40 MHz is fully available.
For Germany Telekom, the frequency bands are 20 MHz LTE1800 and 20 MHz LTE2600 in cities, however, in the country you will probably encounter more often the combination of LTE1800 (20 MHz) and LTE800 (10 MHz) here and the speed with 225 Mbit/s is lower. Vodafone uses Carrier Aggregation with LTE800 (10 MHz) and LTE2600 (20 MHz), so it will also be possible here a maximum speed of 225 Mbps.

 

 

Gigabit LAN and WLAN ac
Not only the modem has been renewed at Huawei E5186, the remaining technical data have been considerably improved compared to the previous B593. The four LAN ports on the back are now working at gigabit speed, the WLAN module now supports the standards 802.11a/b/g/n/ac and thus allows wireless transmission rates of up to 1.3 gigabits/s Thus, the high speeds of LTE-Advanced can also use easily on the terminal.

 

The on-off switch has been moved from the side to the back side in comparison to B593, the USB interface is completely saved. A single USB port is still on the back, so printer or storage media can be integrated into the E5186 network. The two RJ-11 ports for analog phones still exist, the new functions are that not only VoIP is supported, but also VoLTE and CSFB, ie telephone directly via the SIM card in the router. The two connectors for external antennas are still available at the usual place (under the cover).

 

 

Huawei E5186 on Vodafone and Telekom
The Huawei E5186 LTE CAT6 router with the Huawei E5786 is record as the first Category 6 devices to Vodafone portfolio from summer. Both devices are again provided with the new name, for example, the E5186 has the new name as Vodafone B4000. Also at Germany Telekom, there are plans, the Huawei E5186 included in the assortment. Here, however, a final selection is not yet made ​​- whether the device comes as “Speedbox III LTE”  to the portfolio is unclear.
